THE HISTORY OF SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS

Since 1923, School Crossing Guards have been providing service to our communities so that our children can safely travel to and from school. The NASCG was created to bring awareness, education and of the need of safety reform and the dangers of our service to the communities, we serve so that we may better protect our children as they travel to and from school and end the deaths of School Crossing Guards working in school safety zones forever.

THE HISTORY OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS

The National Association of School Crossing Guards (NASCG) was formed in Santa Monica, California in 2019 due to the impact felt from the deaths of School Crossing Guards killed in the line of duty throughout our great nation. After a Simi Valley guard died as a result of being hit by a car in a school safety zone in December 2018, several of the Santa Monica Police School Crossing Guards felt there should be some response, a group recognition for their service and condolence for their families for their loss. It also brought up the issue of safety and the dangers of working as a School Crossing Guard, hence the NASCG was born.
